The iCode blog is a blog dedicated to iPhone development tricks, including what the owner of the site calls the secret to better iPhone apps, “multi-threading”. Does it add up to a good site?  Check out our review!

Very difficult Navigation Cry

This site suffers from many poor design choices, from its washed color choices to the intrusive ads that make reading the content difficult.  We understand we are dealing with programmers here, and not designers, but this site is still a flop in the design category.

How easy is it to navigate around the site? We tried and tested it out and graded..

Navigating the iCodeBlog is made difficult thanks to long load times and a barely functional search bar.  The individual posts are not clearly marked either, which made reading the content difficult.

Who writes this blog? Is it one person or a group of iPhone experts? We looked at the description or bio of the bloggers to find out who or what company is behind this blog?.

The two founders of the site were relatively unknown developers before they were bought by RightSprite media.  We can’t really see how these iPhone bloggers will grow from here as is.

Why is it different to other Iphone blogs? Why does a Iphone user need this content? We graded on originality and innovation..

Not much to say here.  The site has a few tricks, an explanation or two about the iPhone sdk, and that’s it.  Can’t really give this iPhone blog any points for originality.

How interactive is this site? Is there a Facebook Group? Twitter? RSS feeds? Linked In? We found out..

Too many sites today are leaving out crucial elements of Web 2.0 social media, like a Facebook fan page, or a YouTube page to host their videos.  It’s a shame that iCodeblog.com doesn’t appreciate the value of good social media connectivity.

Size isn't everything, but it counts right? Here we looked at the length of the posts..

The posts are short, and when a deeper explanation is needed, you are linked elsewhere.  This left us scratching our heads and wondering why this iPhone apps blog even exists.

Is this site up-to-date with the latest news from apple land? Number of updated, relevant and quality news stories and product updates..

When we checked the site, it had not been updated in a few days, and there was no mention whatsoever of the new iPad.

What else can I do here? We gave extra points to sites with RSS feeds, images, video, mobile and audio..

Just like the social media category, the multimedia category is one that always separates the Tops from the Flops and without any multimedia to speak of, iCodeblog.com is a straight flop.
