A longtime contributor that should be familiar to any true Apple fanatic, Macworld has created an iPhone blog for the Apple fanboy in phone form.

A long time contributor

Macworld’s iPhone apps blog uses the same cookie-cutter layout that many of the top news aggregating sites are using today.  As an industry leader, we expected Macworld to bring more to the table.

How easy is it to navigate around the site? We tried and tested it out and graded..

Navigating through Macworld’s iPhone Central is slow and buggy at times.  The Google custom search hardly works, and reeks of amateurism.

Who writes this blog? Is it one person or a group of iPhone experts? We looked at the description or bio of the bloggers to find out who or what company is behind this blog?.

Macworld used to be a big name, especially in Apple news, but lately they have been overtaken by the big tech iPhone bloggers like Techcrunch or Gizmodo.

Why is it different to other Iphone blogs? Why does a Iphone user need this content? We graded on originality and innovation..

This isn’t so much of an iPhone blog as it as a collection of iPhone related stories from their main site, put in one location.  Not very original.

How interactive is this site? Is there a Facebook Group? Twitter? RSS feeds? Linked In? We found out..

We found few links for social media, and when we tried to check out the Facebook Fan Page, it linked us to PC world!  Oops!

Size isn't everything, but it counts right? Here we looked at the length of the posts..

The blog posts were tiny and content-bare.  They averaged about 100-150 words each, which left us wanting more information.

iPhone Updates: 2/10

Is this site up-to-date with the latest news from apple land? Number of updated, relevant and quality news stories and product updates..

Most of the posts seemed to be written by your average iPhone blogger who cares about the latest and greatest apps while ignoring the more important news coming from Apple’s headquarters in Cupertino.

What else can I do here? We gave extra points to sites with RSS feeds, images, video, mobile and audio..

The videos posted on Macworld are cheesy, and filmed in a low-budget documentary style that doesn’t suit this well known publishers M.O.  Perhaps a bit more production on their video reviews and we could give them a higher score here.
