From the tricky name, one would expect that the folks running “The Apple Blog” would at least be holding themselves to a high standard in web design.  Sadly, that is not the case.

Pretty Simple Concept

This GigaOM run site is another cookie iPhone blog design that falls short in every category, from the image choices to the overall design.

How easy is it to navigate around the site? We tried and tested it out and graded..

Navigating the site, with its long list of posts that have no rhyme or reason was difficult for even our most hardened reviewers and this site gets itself an easy flop.

Who writes this blog? Is it one person or a group of iPhone experts? We looked at the description or bio of the bloggers to find out who or what company is behind this blog?.

The writers behind TheAppleBlog.com seem to place a premium on sensationalist content without much journalistic cred to back it up.

Originality: 1/10

Why is it different to other Iphone blogs? Why does a Iphone user need this content? We graded on originality and innovation..

The concept behind this blog is pretty simple: get a foolproof domain name, and throw up whatever content you need.  The money will roll in from ads alone.  Not very original at all.

How interactive is this site? Is there a Facebook Group? Twitter? RSS feeds? Linked In? We found out..

There were limited social options on this iPhone apps blog and we weren’t surprised to find empty comment pages as well.  There isn’t much of a community here.

Size isn't everything, but it counts right? Here we looked at the length of the posts..

The posts are long, but rambling, and most of the content is just linked from other, more respectable sites.  Taking content from All Things Digital is a cheap move.

iPhone Updates: 5/10

Is this site up-to-date with the latest news from apple land? Number of updated, relevant and quality news stories and product updates..

The site is buzzing with the latest iPad news, which is nice, but it leaves the iPhone in the dust.  Don’t forget that it’s still the most popular smart phone on the market.

What else can I do here? We gave extra points to sites with RSS feeds, images, video, mobile and audio..

There are not many multimedia options on this iPhone bloggers site, and The Apple Blog could have at least put up a few links to YouTube, Twitter, or a Facebook fan page.
